before you bask in my sunshine

appreciate that it comes from a ball of fire

like water, when you say I quench you

remember, I can also flood

understand that I can devastate and heal

that I’m quite as much as I’m loud

sometimes diffident when I look proud

more smart than I am fun

I think I stayed too long

and you say I always run

I’m a dancer, but I also write

my bravado keeps up with my fright

I need stability

even when I’m always talking about growth

you can love it, or you can loathe

I’m not either or, I’m both
